Five Brooklyn Restaurants Just Got Added to The Michelin Guide
New stars and Bib Gourmand distinctions will be awarded at a ceremony in the fall
Twice a year, the clandestine food and beverage department of the French tire company behind the Michelin Guide announces new inclusions to its prestigious digital pages. And, for the first time in a long time, the action in Brooklyn does not appear to have been overlooked or discounted in any way.
For its spring drop, Michelin named nine new NYC restaurants to the list, five of which reside in the County of Kings (the remaining four are split up between heat-map-regulars in Manhattan’s lower-third). The Brooklyn restaurants added to the list include some of our personal and collective favorites, like Bong, the Khmer knockout with a months-long waitlist in Crown Heights, and Chef Alan Delgado’s flour tortilla paradise Los Burritos Juárez in Fort Greene. It also added some new swings from previously starred entities, like Vato, the cafe and bakery concept in Park Slope from the team behind Corima, and I Cavallini, the Italian sibling to James Murphy’s Michelin darling The Four Horsemen across the street. The last slot goes to Entre Nous in Clinton Hill, where the wine flows alongside chilled bivalves, elegant small plates, and countless cheese and charcuterie combos.
Whether any of them land their stars of designation remains up to Michelin’s shadowy tribunal of faceless, nameless agents. But mear inclusion is usually a reliable sign they’re in consideration, or, at the very least, are on the right path. This year’s stars will be awarded at Michelin Guide‘s annual ceremony in the fall, where the winners get their stripes and share the stage, if only for a moment, with the actual Michelin Man.
