BK Mag’s Northside Festival Mixtape #5

By Jeff Klingman

As a holiday weekend bears down upon us, your thoughts may move to rest and relaxation. Our eyes remain firmly on the prize, adding exciting new artists and shows for Brooklyn’s Northside Festival right up until the very last minute….which happens to be two weeks away! Since it’s a Friday in Spring, we’re back with another weekend playlist, highlighting the many delights our music festival has to offer, from June 7th to the 10th. Go ahead and jam to it to get your backyard groove on. We’ll BBQ when we’re dead.

Today’s mix kicks off with a bonafide summer jam from Brooklyn rapper Topaz Jones, newly announced as the headliner for Northside Innovation’s closing night party, Friday, June 8th at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Hip-hop at this year’s festival is a continued focus from there, with tracks from cutting edge beat-makers and emcees like Clams Casino, CHXPO, and Cakes da Killa. It get more eclectic from there, in classic Northside fashion, making room for the daydream techno-pop of Dutch producer Palmbomen II, bruising hardcore from Detroit’s The Armed, and the Nashville-grade songcraft of Shannon & the Clams frontwoman Shannon Shaw’s new solo jam. As always, there are ticket links conveniently linked below that connect you immediately to the shows you need to catch. (And the extra weekend day gives you plenty of time to revisit vols. 1, 2, 3, 4 here.)

We are, literally, almost there! We’ll be back here next week with a greatest hits summation of the most exciting acts playing Northside Festival 2018.

Get tickets below, or check out the Northside Festival website to explore the full line-up!
