The Yard Showcases Local Artists At New Locations
The Yard, a revolutionary shared office space, is showcasing a series of new artists across its Brooklyn, Manhattan and Philadelphia spaces. Through The Yard’s unique Art Program, locations feature rotating art galleries as well as permanent installations that provide a snapshot into the vibrant, diverse culture of these neighborhoods and support local artists and the surrounding community. The workspaces not only serve as art galleries but also create communities that bring continuous inspiration.

As part of its unique take on workspaces, it’s important that The Yard’s spaces are not only conducive to work but also an environment that eases one’s mind and allows for productivity and creative energy. The Yard’s Director of Aesthetics works closely with curators and local artists to find beautiful, inspiring artwork that fits with the aesthetics of all of the company’s locations. The exhibits rotate seasonally, and permanent, custom pieces are also commissioned for each space.
Vargas-Suarez Universal, an internationally renowned artist living in Brooklyn, New York, spent months developing three large-scale murals for The Yard’s Lincoln Square, Herald Square and Williamsburg spaces. These three works, each comprised of a unique color scheme, span multiple wood panels that fill entire walls in each space. The pieces are composed of lines that run parallel along similar paths, connecting and diverging at various angles, much like members connecting in a collaborative work environment.

This month, the modern workspace community has expanded to Midtown Village, Philadelphia and Columbus Circle, New York. The Yard: Midtown Village in Philadelphia, which opened on Tuesday, May 9th, will showcase brilliant works by Paul Fabozzi, Jeff Cylkowski, Robert Goodman and James Inscho, curated by Seraphin Gallery. On May 24th, The Yard: Columbus Circle will open its doors with a an exhibit titled “Nature, landscapes, and human belongings”, a compilation of works by artists Dan Gratz, Domingo Milella, Elisabeth Smolarz and Xinran Yuan, curated by SARAHCROWN. Comprised of paintings, drawings and photo collections, the exhibition explores how nature and man-made objects reveal crucial aspects of our very personal backgrounds and identities.
Across the river at the company’s first location in Williamsburg, The Yard will celebrate “Vapors”, an imaginative, surreal collection by New York artist Charles Wilkin, curated by Silence Is Accurate on May 18th.

Also this month, The Yard: Lower East Side, well known for its panoramic views of the neighborhood from its work-friendly roof deck, will welcome a new collection of paintings, drawings and videos by artist Douglas Ward Kelley, curated by Lee Wells. This exhibit will also feature select pieces from Kelley’s work from the Parnes Collection.
Later this year, The Yard will plant new roots in Bryant Park, Gowanus and South Williamsburg in New York, as well as Boston and Washington, D.C.
