Donna Rises From The Ashes
IT’S TOUGH FOR A BAR to make a real impression in Williamsburg, which boasts more drinking dens in one square block than can be counted in many major cities. But after a serious electrical fire caused Central American —styled favorite Donna to shutter back in November 2013, the subsequent seven months were dull indeed, without their highly educational rum flights, boozy punch bowls, and exceedingly classy, blender-free daiquiris. That’s why one of the happiest developments of summer was watching Donna literally rise from the ashes, after they re-launched in June with airy new interiors from accomplished design house, hOmE (check out the curved bar and restored vaulted ceilings), a stable of light Latin bites from their onsite outpost of Brooklyn Taco, and an expanded beverage program, making them the first Brooklyn bar to serve cocktails on tap. We’ll drink (and drink and drink and drink) to that!
