Anderson Cooper’s Boyfriend Is Opening A Gay Bar In Williamsburg
While the owners of Lulu’s battle their homophobic landlord for the right to become a gay bar, Anderson Cooper’s boyfriend has doors just flying open for him down in Williamsburg.
According to the Commercial Observer, Cooper’s longtime partner, Antoine “Benjamin” Maisani, will soon open his fourth gay bar in the city and first in Williamsburg.
The new restaurant and bar will be located at 617 Grand Street near Leonard Street, which is roughly five blocks from the Lorimer L/Metropolitan G. Sources told the Observer that Maisani and his business partners signed a 10-year lease at $6500/month for the 4,000 square foot space.
Additionally, the curmudgeonly Community Board 1 has already approved the bar’s liquor license, simply transferring it from Ooba, the bar and lounge that formerly occupied the space. An opening date is still unknown.
The nameless bar sounds like a great addition to the neighborhood and all that good stuff, but we just hope Anderson Cooper is a regular so we can admire his beauty in real life.
