If you needed more proof that the blocks nearest the Bedford Ave L stop are turning into a slightly more hipster version of the Mall of America, “several knowledgeable sources” say that J Crew is preparing to take over the 6,000-sq-ft space at 234-236 Wythe Ave at N 4th Street, Crains New York reports. It’ll be located just two blocks from the Williamsburg Whole Foods (as of next winter) and potentially an Apple Store.
It’s not the first bermuda shorts-and-seersucker blazer haven in the borough. J Crew opened its first Brooklyn outpost last year in Cobble Hill, and word of a Williamsburg branch has been floating for quite some time now (we even reported on it all the way back in 2012!)
Likely, all this means is that we’re about to see an increase in tall, thin, ethnically vague women sporting chambray oxfords paired with sequined pencil skirts while laughing wildly around Williamsburg, which, if we’re judging by their catalog spreads, is J Crew’s
only favorite look.
