Digby and Iona: Jewelry For The Ages
Jewelry designer Aaron Ruff, of Digby and Iona, draws his inspiration from history; at the moment, it’s prehistory that interests him. His new collection, Me and My Arrow, is about bows and arrows. (We know, we know, we too were disappointed it wasn’t Harry Nilsson-inspired.) Ruff didn’t start out making jewelry. Raised in Maine, and now working out of Invisible Dog in Boerum Hill, he used to be a furniture maker and carpenter. But “it is a lot easier to have an emotional connection to a piece of jewelry than a chair or a cabinet,” Ruff tells us. “Furniture is more functional, and will be swapped as homes are updated or pieces suffer more wear and tear with everyday use.
