Brooklyn Cocktails: The Mint Julep
In a new series, we’ll be sharing how our favorite bartenders in Brooklyn mix up Jameson Black Barrel in a cocktail. After mixing up the Irish Mule cocktail, we’re now remaking our other summer standby, the Mint Julep.
Don’t let anyone tell you that Mint Juleps are meant to be consumed for one horse race-themed day of the year–a Mint Julep this good is meant to be ordered all summer long. Megan Doherty, from the Crown Heights’ staple Glady’s, showed us the ropes for the perfect Julep, made even better with the aromatic and intensely spicy Black Barrel. Thanks to the charred bourbon barrels used for aging, the whiskey makes a great substitute for bourbon.
