8,000-Person Yoga Festival Coming To Prospect Park
Our parks are outdoing themselves this year, especially Prospect. Next week, the Park and BRIC will kickoff an amazing series of free concerts starting with a performance by Janelle Monáe, following that up with a classy, 5000-person pop-up dinner on June 28. And now we’ve learned that in the continued interest of flaunting what they’ve got, the outsized Prospect Park will also host an equally-outsized yoga festival this fall.
According to Well + Good, Yoga In The City, a yoga festival company, will host Wanderlust 108, their first-ever “mindful triathlon” on September 13 in the Park’s Long Meadow Ballfields. The fest will feature a 5k run, an inspirational meditation and a 90-minute, 8,000-person yoga class. Additionally, attendees will be invited to buy goods from various health and wellness vendors and enjoy a handful of musical performances, including a Beastie Boys-themed yoga session led by MC Yogi.
3,000 early bird tickets–which include admission to the 5K, priority seating and gift bags–are on sale now for $38 through June 6 when they’ll go up to $78. After that, 5,000 free tickets will be given away via lottery. They will not include access to the 5K.
And because this is taking place right outside Park Slope, it’s worth noting that kiddies are more than welcome to get an early start on their yoga training at Wanderlust 108. The Sonima Foundation will host plenty of activities for them, including mini-yoga classes, a smoothie/juice station, and a hands-on gardening experience.
