That said, I’ve been obsessed with the veggie burger here lately, eating it at least once a week. It’s not the vegan patty, which is one of those standard pea-sandwich type of Gardenburgers, but the ease with which you can construct your dream burger. I recently discovered potato rolls (I know, “welcome to New York”), which is where I start, then add on lettuce, tomato, raw onion (all free) and you’ve got a substantial sandwich. There are other cheap add-ons to try—different jalapenos, guacamole—but best to save your money for some kind of fried potato, of which they have several delicious options, the best obviously being (as they always are) tater tots.
