Where to Go on Brooklyn’s New Restaurant Row

When I was a teenager, I was walking down Third Avenue in Bay Ridge with a friend, and on the corner of 72nd Street some kid even younger than us randomly grabbed my companion and delivered a roundhouse kick to his side. It wasn’t the savoriest block in the neighborhood. Visit today and see it’s still anchored by that disreputable McDonald’s, but catty corner to it is a specialty beer store; across the street from that is a wine bar/restaurant, across the street from a farm-to-table eatery. In fact, Third Avenue between 72nd and 73rd streets now houses eight different places to eat, from the fancy to the hole-in-the-wall, offering a social-studies unit worth of international options. It’s Brooklyn’s newest restaurant row—at one point with four places door-to-door-to-door-to-door—and with so many options in so short a span, we figured we’d help you figure out where to go.
