The 8 Best Theaters in Brooklyn
Theatre for a New Audience
And this will be the newest Brooklyn theater when it opens in October (in Fort Greene, on the block between the BAM Opera House and BAM Harvey), not that the company is new: it’s been around since 1979, offering some of the best Shakespeare you can see in the city, as well as productions of other classical plays and major contemporary works. (This year’s Much Ado About Nothing was phenomenal.) We’re so excited this stellar company is coming to Brooklyn, paving the way perhaps for more interesting groups to make the transriver leap? After all, TFANA is so renowned that Julie Taymor, a longtime collaborator, will direct the first production in its new home, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, her first since the Spider-Man debacle. [photo]
