Brooklyn Public Library Giving Away Free Helmets Today
As some of you may know, May is National Bike Month, a time for celebrating our cyclist friends or our cyclist selves. Accordingly, there’s all kinds of cool bike-related events going on including the Red Hook Bike Jumble at the end of the month and that biking supper club we told you about yesterday.
The thing is both those events involve cold hard cash. So, it’s nice to hear that the Grand Army Plaza branch of the Brooklyn Public Library (10 Grand Army Plaza nr. Eastern Pkwy.) will be giving away helmets for absolutely free today.
The Bike The Branches event will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. today and feature noggin-protecting helmets for both kiddies and adults.
The helmet giveaway is a lead up to the library’s May 17 bike ride event, which will lead locals on a tour of Brooklyn and include readings, workshops, kid-friendly activities and themed rides.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children (17 and under)/seniors (65+), $40 for families, and $150 for teams of 10.
