Brooklyn’s Most Exciting Art Event: The Other Art Fair Showcases 100+ Independent Artists
Springtime in Brooklyn is a magical time. As the weather warms up, the streets come back to life with an energy that’s infectious. It’s a time for outdoor brunches, rooftop happy hours, and leisurely strolls through the parks.
And, of course, it’s a time for art. With the return of The Other Art Fair to Brooklyn, we’re ready to soak up all the creativity the borough has to offer. Back in the Brooklyn Navy Yard from May 18 to 21, the independent art fair will showcase over 100+ artists (with over 1,000 artworks). For this spring fair, attendees can enjoy impressive art installations and experiences, which include 3walls: Re McBride and Reid+Factor, Nonamey’s installation entitled “Backstage at the Drag Show”, AI-generated tattoos with artist Evan Ishmael, plus tintype portrait sessions with Goodness + Truth.
New to the indie art scene? No worries, here’s the scoop for you: The Other Art Fair—presented by Saatchi Art—began in 2011 in London, and over ten years later has grown. With art fairs in London, Sydney, New York, and now Dallas, the fair is about bringing artists and buyers together.
The Other Art Fair seeks to revolutionize the art world by providing a platform for independent artists to connect directly with their local communities. Through their mission to dismantle the traditional art market barriers, the fair makes art accessible and affordable for everyone.
The four day extravaganza is sure to be a scene. Kick things off with a Thursday night party for Opening Night, and you might just hobnob with other creatives, editors, writers, and art devotees. On the next night—Friday evening—unlock opportunities at the Friday Late Party for revelry, dj sets, cocktails and mingle with aesthetes and savvy Brooklynites. As for weekend vibes, rolling into Saturday and Sunday, visitors can expect a busy fair with art admirers strolling through exhibits, serious buyers, and the brunch set.
For the entirety of the fair, there will be discovery, fanfare, and cool happenings. And, if you want to feel prepped before you pop into the show, check out this guide. Keep a lookout for drinks, food trucks with tasty bites, live performances, photo opps at art installations, there’s thrills to be had at every turn.
