Meet the Malin: A Dynamic Design-Led Members Club for Work in Williamsburg
Obvious statement of the century: Dynamically designed spaces can help you feel more productive. From mood boosts and positive outlooks to feeling energized and clear-headed, airy, open, and creative spaces are a win-win. After all, studies have shown that cluttered and poorly designed areas conjure fatigue, decreased focus ability and even low activity levels.
Which brings us to our next point, isn’t it high time you leveled up your office? Tap into clean and light-filled spaces at The Malin Williamsburg at The William Vale, a 10,000 square foot design-led members club for work. Picture this: High touch sensibilities woven into boutique offerings that include luxury design and customizable services all in an intimate setting located right in the heart of Williamsburg.
So, how does a design-led members club work exactly? For starters, The Malin releases their memberships in phases to ensure each club strikes the perfect balance of members (FYI: they’re also located in Soho and the soon-to-be West Village, for the Manhattanites). Memberships are not vetted through an application process like some other competitors on the market to ensure a diverse community. Once the perfect number of members is met, membership is capped so that all services are hands-on and highly personalized.
Speaking of personalized services, there’s an on-site executive assistant to lend a hand in administrative duties (aka, filing expense reports) and day-to-day lifestyle needs (i.e. book travel itineraries or a dinner meeting). Tedious tasks, be gone. That gives you more time to kick back—and work on that pitch deck—in a comfy-cool atmosphere.
In terms of ambience, The Malin has it all. With 360 degree views of Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the East River, light fills in from all directions thanks to the windows that line the entire perimeter of the space (and some cool reeded glass walls that offer privacy without compromising light). Partnering with Fettle Design, the workspace is a blending of brutalist designs melting into warmth, texture and style. There are custom millwork throughout in solid oak, furnishings in rich velvet, leather, and boucle plus luxe travertine and marble that adorn tables in conference rooms (not to mention a swath of dramatic but glowy lighting). Vibes abound at this space, from all sensory touch points, including scent as aromatherapy is an essential part of the experience and The Malin burns incense throughout the day.
The area centers around a common space with open seats plus standing and seated desks. Get lost in research at the library—a dedicated, separate space for silent work—for quiet time that’s bookable by the day or the hour. And move on to the main space, which boasts 40 seated desks, seven private offices, four meeting rooms and a handful of phone booths for conferencing.
What’s membership actually like? Membership is offered across a few tiers: Access, Dedicated Desk and Private Office. Private Office tiers require an annual membership while Access and Dedicated Desk are month-to-month. All tiers have access to communal seating, private phone booths, library, kitchen and perks plus bookable conference rooms (with preferred member rates).
The personalization doesn’t end there. The Malin is all about creating custom solutions for specific business needs all in an inspiring atmosphere that actually encourages folks to come to the office and host clients. A customized approach means you aren’t beholden to a long-term office lease or excessive overhead, and you’ll only pay for what’s absolutely essential to your working needs.
Got a three-person team? No problem. But, need something else for your hybrid crew members? And, what about your international-based folks that fly in once every other month? No worries, the Malin has you covered with clever solutions that include dedicated desk memberships, access memberships to be shared amongst hybrid employees, monthly 5-day multi-passes for international visitors, and a standing meeting room reservation for when it’s time for all-hands meetings.
These fine touches all intersect together into an ultimately bespoke experience that comes loaded with some fine perks too. The Malin has integrated services to encourage professional growth and connections with Skye and VensureHR. And as a new Brooklyn location with more to come, club members can delight in some key discounts at local restaurants, services and shopping that includes happy hour perks and on-site discounts at Isla & Co., Diptyque, Modo Yoga, Recovery Haus and more.
