All of the self-care goodies you could need this fall
When the seasons change — crisp air and fall foliage has definitely arrived — I often feel the urge to upgrade my usual routines with some helpful tools and accessories to make the time of year feel softer. Whether it’s a smell-good candle, a cushy pair of sneakers or a product or two to elevate my ongoing skin-care regimen, supportive items that elevate my well-being practice makes me feel better throughout the year. And, to put it simply: It feels good to feel good.
Scroll on to see all of the self-care products from my shopping list.
Kizik Athens Sneakers, $129
Let’s kick things off with a pair of kicks. These cozy-comfy sneakers are like walking on a bouncy cloud, and I’ve been sporting them on most days of the week (they look super cute with leggings but also printed dresses and leather jackets). Bonus: These cushy shoes don’t even need any lacing up. Simply step in and slide in for a snuggly fit and go.
Free + True Body Prophet Serum, $48
After a lifelong avoidance to body lotion, I finally became a convert with this silky all-over body serum. With olive leaf extract and pumpkin seed oil, this special serum is slatherable after a shower. My skin feels utterly hydrated and baby soft.
Essie Nail Polish in Going Steady, $10
Personally, I’m a big fan of painting my nails as a means of self care. And, I’m an even bigger fan of any and all iridescent, glimmery and makes-me-feel-like-an-ethereal-fairy kind of hues. This sparkly cream color does the trick.
Kroma Beauty Matcha Latte, $60
I have a confession to make: I’ve given up coffee because it makes me feel over stimulated and jittery. My solution to a caffeine boost? This tasty matcha powder is jam-packed with vitamins like L-Theanine and superfoods like turmeric and maca. Plus this robust latte has just enough caffeine to give me a much-needed wake up.
Parrotfish Argan Shampoo Bar, $15
No plastic packaging? Yes, please. This argan shampoo bar comes in an eco-friendly container, and its sudsy shampoo lathers up nicely with its notes of bamboo, pine and spicy peppercorn. My tresses have never felt softer.
Spitfire Girl Potion Candles Gift Set, $68
Candles are absolutely, 100 percent self care and I will not be taking further questions on this matter. These essential oil-infused candles fill up a room while I’m winding down from the day with a book or a stretch session. The delightful gift set comes with four candles — which is great for testing out new scents — and some of my favorites candles include Seduction (featuring notes of patchouli and pink pepper) and Love (with notes of bergamot and vetiver).
Clinque Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, $22
Here is my personal holy grail of lip balm, and it moonlights as lipstick. Black Honey is a transparent balm that melts into the natural tone of my lips with a devastatingly pretty berry tinted color upon every application.
Arvin Goods, Crew Socks, $14
I like to achieve maximum coziness all day long, and these retro-cool style crew socks get me there. They’re perfect with my Chelsea boots, or even slipping into some Birkenstocks and sauntering over to my local coffee shop for a London Fog latte.
Met Campus Champion® Sweatshirt, $69
Good self care calls for plush and durable sweatshirts, and this number from the Met is certainly my favorite. The collegiate-style typeface and the light gray make me feel irresistibly cool and supremely comfortable at the same time.
Birkenstock Boston Shearling Clog, $170
Behold, the shoes of the moment. The Boston clog certainly seems to be giving many a self-care enthusiast some big time joie de vivre (myself included). Lined with shearling for extra warmth, this classic shoe feels a bit boho and a bit practical which is a win-win in my book.
Worthwhile Paper Self Discovery Gift Bundle, $68
One of my favorite self-care practices is getting in touch with my inner self with some morning — or nighttime — journaling. Looking within helps me feel centered and articulate my emotions (or chronicle my funky dreams!), and this bundle with a journal, oracle card set (great for daily pulls), notepad, stickers and even a sweet card and pin make my writing time so enjoyable.
