Going Away? A Slice of Montauk Bliss For Your Consideration
It’s summertime and if you’ve been bestowed with half-day Fridays, you may be itching to get out of town for a long weekend or two. Think, an easy-breezy spot that’s an easy train ride or a couple hours drive. Beaches and seafood may be involved, too.
What’s that spot, you ask? Let us introduce you to Montauk, New York. Why Montauk? This village has long been on everyone’s radar—as the Hamptons is well, the Hamptons—but it’s a little slice of oceanfront heaven in the South Fork. From fresh caught seafood and sip-worthy sundowners to bustling creative arts and surfing, there’s *a lot* to explore in a few days.
Ahead, let’s dive into your escape and why the Hero Beach Club is set to be the MVP of long weekends away. Located in the beachside Montauk community, the hotel is surrounded by must-see attractions, good beaches, and buzzing nightlife. Essentially, it’s a very palatable spot to call home for a couple of nights.
Driving or taking it easy on the LIRR, the hotel is conveniently located along Montauk Highway right near the center of town. This 30-room haven is practically an oasis on the beach (the sand and surf are literally steps away from the hotel, too). Playing into the aesthetics of surf culture and artistry, it’s easy to sink into relaxation mode in the airy white room (with ample fluffy towels and pillows to boot.)

While you might not want to spend the entirety of your trips indoors (you do you, of course), most of the rooms are outfitted with balconies that boast ocean views. Even better, if you saunter over to the shore, guests can take full advantage of beach loungers and umbrellas all day long (until 5:30 or 6 pm), and if you’re still not cooled off properly then take a dip in the ample-sized pool.
Surf and sand is the name of the game in Montauk, but Hero Beach Club has a few other sweet amenities up its sleeve. Mornings include a restorative yoga or pilates class plus a fuel-up station with free continental breakfast. The hotel does offer some food for the peckish, with wraps and small plates for in-room dining or in the Garden (more on that spot in a sec).
But the other jewel of Hero Beach Club? Its lush and leafy green garden space. Located directly behind the beach, the area is heavenly for daytime — and nighttime — entertainment, including bonfire pits with premium lounging under the night sky. (Pro tip: Ask for a s’mores kit and thank us later.)
Ready to get away for a bit? Book your next long weekend getaway and wake up on the beach.
