Running from July 19 to August 22, Restaurant Week will offer discount dining—and a boost to a hobbled local industry

Come hungry and come vaxxed: New York’sRestaurant Week is set to return in-person for the first time since the onset of the pandemic. And this year, the week will last a month. Discount dining kicks off July 19, with cheap(er) eats being offered at 500 restaurants across the city—including more than 40 in Brooklyn—and will run through August 22.

“Think about restaurants you’ve always wanted to go to—here’s the opportunity,” says Mayor-for-now Bill de Blasio. “It’s a wonderful, super restaurant week.” Prix fixe lunches and dinners will be priced at either $21 or $39, depending on the restaurants usual pricing.

Only nine Brooklyn restaurants participated in the city’s 2019 Restaurant Week. Brooklyn’s poor representation triggered an impromptu response in Park Slope in which more than 50 restaurants offered their own rogue discounts.

For 2020’s mid-pandemic Restaurant Week, 78 borough restaurants participated in a to-go version of the event.

This year’s extended city Restaurant Week(s) is/are in large part a response to the challenges so many restaurants faced as a result of the pandemic, as well as the city’s eagerness to jumpstart the tourism industry. The full list of Brooklyn’s participating restaurants this summer is listed below.

“This is the moment to be here,” de Blasio told the Daily News, “This is the Summer of New York City.” Drinks are extra.
