Scotch & Soda Celebrates New Store Opening in Dumbo

By Susanna Friedman

Last Wednesday, Scotch and Soda joined DUMBO’s burgeoning retail scene, with the opening of their second Brooklyn store at 76 Front Street. We joined forces with the Amsterdam-based brand to celebrate the new location. The night was filled with outfit try-ons (and purchases!), yummy bites, drinks by Sexton Irish Whiskey, and music by DJ May Kwok.

Scotch & Soda’s Cabinet of Wonders

Scotch & Soda’s new digs are some of their coolest yet. The store is bright and spacious, as it is the brand’s largest North American store, bringing the industrial-chic look of DUMBO into the store’s interior. In addition to Scotch & Soda’s current collection, the newest location has an installation- a Cabinet of Wonders, featuring items sourced from the Scotch & Soda’s team’s travels around the world. “We’re at our happiest when searching for curiosities,” Scotch & Soda’s Creative Director, Marlou van Engelen, said. “In this way our muse comes to life.” Currently on display are trinkets from van Engelen’s trip to Morocco—including art, blankets, vintage necklaces and more—all on sale exclusively at the DUMBO store.

An inside look into the new store

It would be remiss if I didn’t mention just how good the current lineup of Scotch & Soda’s collection in-store is, too. You can currently find pieces from the brand’s Fall-Winter collection (including this amazing coat I snagged), as well as a look into their Spring-Summer pieces, to stock up on for the coming season before they’re gone. Also on display are pieces from Scotch & Soda’s Felix the Cat collection.

Party-goers wore Scotch & Soda

The party itself was the best way to ring in the new location. Drinks were had, tunes were spun, and many of the honorees of this year’s 30 Under 30 were in the building! All in all, it was a great night.

DJ May Kwok played all throughout the evening

As the night ended, more than a few people walked away with shopping bags in hand. And with this newest location being literally across the street from our offices, let’s just say I’ll be taking some pretty extended lunch breaks in the near future.
