Donald Trump was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Everyone’s Pissed Off About It
Jimmy Fallon, one of everyone’s favorite cool-funny-guys on TV, did something not cool last night. In an obvious attempt for viewers and ratings, the highest-rated show on late night TV invited Donald Trump to be the show’s guest. This is a horrendous downgrade from recent guests, like the kid cast of Stranger Things, who engaged in a get-to-know-you game involving spraying silly string at each other.
In a transparent ploy for people to like him more and prove he does not wear a toupee, Trump allowed Fallon to playfully mess up his hair. With any other guest owning a great head of hair, like Harry Styles or Justin Bieber circa 2011, this would’ve been really cute. Instead, this moment shared between two grown men vying for the affection of America was pretty…awkward.

Also, the two had a mock interview. When asked why he would excel at the job, Trump responded, “Because I love people, and I want to do right for people,” to which there was a pretty delayed response. This pissed off every marginalized person whom Trump has talked shit about, because it certainly doesn’t seem like he wants to do right for them. We all know when he says he loves people, he really just means white males and white female supermodels, right?
It didn’t take long for the internet to respond Twitter with some angry, but VERY valid tweets pointing out some problems.
Jimmy Fallon: Don’t put Trump on TV & treat him like a buddy & muss his hair. It humanizes a monster. Stop it.

Here’s the thing, @jimmyfallon: Trump is an existential threat. Treating him like a regular candidate, legitimizing him, is reprehensible.

Awww Jimmy Fallon ruffled Trump’s hair and then goofed around with him for ten minutes. What a funny, adorable response to fascism!

No one expects Jimmy Fallon to rip Trump in a hard-hitting interview. But what he did was put a cherry & whipped cream on top of bigotry.

It must’ve been nice for Jimmy Fallon’s all-black band to watch their boss pal around with a white supremacist.

Hillary Clinton is set to appear on the show this coming Monday, so sit back and grab some popcorn for the show and the tweets that will ensue.
