Greenpoint DIY Venue Aviv to Close in October

2016 has been like that shitty dude who is at the party that nobody really knows but you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, and then he ends up stealing all of your weed and creeping out all of your girlfriends. Long story short: nobody likes 2016. It’s a real asshole.
2016 has taken many things from us, but apparently music venues are a personal favorite of this cursed year. Greenpoint’s DIY venue Aviv appears to be the latest spot to announce it will close up shop. In a Facebook post signed by venue owners Stuart, Olivia, Zack and Tyler, they announced Aviv will close after their lease ends in October of 2016.
After just two years of hosting shows, they are closing their doors in the hopes of opening somewhere else. This is a story we have all heard before, as rents continue to skyrocket.
Oh, 2016. What more do you want from us, really? You took Palisades, you took Acheron, now you take Aviv? Stick a fork in us, we are fucking done.
