PWR BTTM Adds Gender Neutral Restroom Clause to Tour Rider

Brooklyn “genre-queer” rock duo PWR BTTM announced on their Facebook page that they have updated their tour rider to require gender-neutral bathrooms at their shows.
The duo, consisting of Liv Bruce and Ben Hopkins, are no strangers to being vocal advocates for the health and safety of queer people, which they reiterated in the following statement:
Gender neutral bathrooms have been a pressing topic in the political sphere for sometime, with the urgency of existing policies brought to light by UCLA’s Williams Institute. They reported that nearly 70 percent of transgender people said they had experienced verbal harassment in a situation involving gender-segregated bathrooms, while nearly 10 percent reported physical assault.
PWR BTTM is (hopefully) setting a precedent for other touring musicians and venues in regards to holding the safety and comfort of their fans as a high priority.
