Everyone knows the best part about watching the Academy Awards is the stream of good-looking clothes, faces, and characters that inundate airwaves for several hours on end… actually, forget it. The best part of Oscar night is the cocktails you drink while you enjoy this above-average scenery.
But it’s a lot of work to host an Oscar party, so why not go somewhere that does the work for you? Somewhere that offers both red carpet viewing and excellent cocktails? Somewhere like Bushwick’s recently opened Syndicated, which is hosting a special Academy Awards night this Sunday.
Bar manager Kenneth Vanhooser has concocted two Oscar-riffing drinks. There’s And The Winner Is, made of Remy Martin 1738 Cognac, bitters, and a touch of Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur with an occasion-appropriate prosecco float; and Black Tie Optional, which features Bombay White Label gin, Dolin dry vermouth, and comes with both a black olive and a cocktail onion.
Oscar-related good times are not limited to Sunday, however; from February 23rd thorough the 27th, you can catch screenings of the Oscar-nominated The Martian, Amy, Straight Outta Compton, Spotlight, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Tickets are three damn dollars ($3!). People, go cheaply entertain yourselves.
Listen: There are truly very few activities as simply and purely enjoyable as watching the Academy Awards while drinking. Let Syndicated make it easy for you to experience pure enjoyment this weekend.
Syndicated: 40 Bogart Street, Williamsburg
A live-screening of red-carpet coverage on the restaurant large screen begins at 7pm; last year’s Best Picture, Bird Man, screens in the theater (tickets, $3) at 4:30, 7 and 9:30pm
