Based in Red Hook, this design firm has been around for just over ten years and is an exemplar in the field of sustainable furniture and interior design, with pieces in the permanent collections of both the Brooklyn Museum and the Smithsonian. Though there is no “typical” Uhuru product, it’s easy enough to recognize one of the house’s pieces: It will have clean lines that only serve to better show off the varied organic materials, thus resulting in wood-and-marble slab tables perched on sleek brass legs, or a tree stump-esque stool made completely enshrined in aluminum, unique ways of celebrating the organic materials of this world.
