Chromatics Release Seven Versions Of “Girls Just Wanna To Have Fun”
I’m a girl who just wants Chromatics to release Dear Tommy, but they just want to have fun, or some, or dub… or drums? The ghostly pop masterminds blessed a MANGO ad of all things with a scaled-back, whispery rendition of the Robert Hazard song Cyndi Lauper made famous, but “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” isn’t the only version they’ll release. Never an act to do things by halves, they’ve shared what amounts to seven alternates. Tomorrow is the maxi single’s official release date, when we’ll get the “fun” version. For now, you can hear the “dub” and “some” outtakes below if you’ve got the free time to bask in small, subtle changes. Since that’s essentially the definition of being a Chromatics fan, I’ll leave you to it.
