Mike D’s Cobble Hill Townhouse and Sometimes Porn Set Sold for a Whole Lot of Money
For the most part, news of a single Brooklyn home selling for more than five million dollars isn’t, you know, really news. But when that home belonged to Beastie Boy Mike D., and when it was also an ersatz porn set, well, then, it’s kind of news. Kind of.
Via Curbed, “the Cobble Hill home of Beastie Boy Mike D. (alias Diamond) and director Tamra Davis has sold for just under its initial asking price. The Baltic Street townhouse, which the brokerbabble called “meticulously renovated and aesthetically re-imagined,” was initially listed for $5.65 million, and it sold for $5.48 million.”
The house itself is gorgeous and had been featured prominently in the New York Times (an article I remember well if only for the fact that both Mike D. and Tamra Davis refused to give their ages to the Times reporter), but it also featured prominently in an amateur porn shoot, which was discovered over the summer because the D.-Davis decorating style is highly distinctive.
So, what’s the lesson here? That sex sells? That Brooklyn real estate sells? That Brooklyn real estate and porn are literally one and the same? All of the above??? Ding. Ding. Ding.
