See Ya on The Big Screen: DIY Filmmakers Submit Your Work to Be Shown Weekly at Summerscreen 2015

SummerScreen, that good ol’ free summer film series in McCarren Park, is just around the corner, and this year we’re celebrating its 10th anniversary! In honor of this milestone, Brooklyn Magazine and Summerscreen are calling all DIY filmmakers for a chance to have their work screened in front of the 5,000 some-odd people that come out to these films every week. So, you’re a filmmaker and you’re like, “Tell me more! Tell me more!” Great, no problem: Create an original 15-second bumper video that would play before the Summerscreen film every week. The bumper should obviously make some mention of SummerScreen—but that’s pretty much the only rule, so feel free to run with this. Hint hint: the weirder, the better.
The top 5 performing videos will be judged by yours truly (Brooklyn Magazine Editors!), and we’ll pick one winner. Show us your work by uploading your video to Instagram with the hashtag #SummerScreenContest and make sure you tag and follow @SummerScreen (oh, uh, and follow us too while you’re at it @brooklynmagazine). Also, put your work on your Youtube channel and include that link so we can see what it will look like on a screen that’s bigger than 2.5 inches. If you win, not only will you get your work shown in front of the massive Summerscreen crowd every week, you’ll also get your work promoted, along with an interview with you, on our website and social handles—yay free publicity! Oh, and a subscription to Brooklyn Magazine as the cherry on top.
So good luck! We can’t wait to watch all your videos and see the winner on the big screen at McCarren!
