Brooklyn Is Getting Another Enormous Food Court

(City Point)
If Berg’n and Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Night Bazaar weren’t enough—and actually, now that we think about it, maybe they aren’t?—next year our humble borough is getting yet another big ol’ food vendor market, DeKalb Market Hall in Downtown Brooklyn.
As part of the development’s 1.8 million square feet of mixed-use space, which includes residential, retail, and office zones, DeKalb Market Hall will bring in tons of established purveyors of deliciousness including Katz’s (yes, that Katz’s—the one and only), Forcella, Fletcher’s Brooklyn Barbecue, The Arepa Lady, and many more.
DeKalb Market Hall will operate on the same site as the now-defunct DeKalb Market, an outdoor food and retail market that shuttered in 2012. According to Eater NY, at least one vendor from that original lineup will return, a donut maker, Cuzin’s Duzin.
But perhaps most exciting of all are plans for an outpost of Austin’s Alamo Draft House movie theater, a Texas-based establishment with a model similar to Nitehawk Cinema’s booze and flicks. Stay tuned for more vendors.
