Brooklyn’s Best Super Bowl Party Packages

Bucket of Balls

We’re just going to out ourselves right away: We first heard about “Deflate-Gate” from Nugget Spot in Gramercy, when they pitched us their Super Bowl special of “under-inflated” nuggets (a canny ruse for price gouging popcorn chicken, but whatever). What we’re saying is, we essentially view the world through a limited lens of food, so would never deign to insult the intelligence of football fans by attempting to engage in sports talk. We’ll just stick to what we know by spotlighting superior tailgate spreads instead, equally appropriate for true football enthusiasts, or whoever’s just in it for the hot wings.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: Take your pick of one of two plus-sized packages: “The Pigskin” (feeds 10+ people for $130), or “The Gridiron” (suitable for 20+ people for $260). Both include Dino’s jumbo BBQ chicken wings and ribs, garnished with blue cheese and celery, plus all the necessary paper goods, like plates, forks and wet-naps.

Order Deadline: Friday, 1/30

Wilma Jean: Why call the Colonel when you can order chicken buckets from Wilma Jean instead? For $75, you’ll get 12 juicy pieces of chef-owner Rob Newton’s fantastic, free-range fried bird, plus 12 hot wings, chips, and a tub of tangy pimento dip.

The Meatball Shop: Not feeling fried chicken? You can order buckets full of balls at the Williamsburg outpost of The Meatball Shop. You heard us right; only $45 for 25 (fully inflated) chicken, veggie, spicy pork, beef, or pizza-flavored balls!

The Vanderbilt: In addition to throwing its own over-the-top Super Bowl party (complete with pigs in blankets and a betting pool!), our favorite sausage-centric eatery is offering a killer game-day package to go. At $155 for eight people, you’ll receive 16 sausages and buns, paired with pickles, mustard, sauerkraut, chili and creamy potato salad.

Pok Pok Ny: Andy Ricker is the king of wings, so if you’re going to go that route with your Super Bowl Sunday spread, know that you can pick up Pok Pok’s fish sauce-slathered beauties in any quantity on game day. Repeat, if you’ve got the cash, you can have all the wings!!!

Saltie: Overstuffed hoagies are reliable football favorites, but we’d just as soon forgo soggy cold cuts for the creative sandwiches at Saltie. $125 will get you two each of the “Balmy,” piled high with ham and chicken pate; the “Little Chef,” made with mortadella and pecorino; the “Spanish Armada,” layered with wedges of potato tortilla; the “Captain’s Daughter,” filled with sardines and salsa verde; and the “Scuttlebutt,” a savory combo of egg, feta and pimenton aioli.
