Red Hook Residents to Vice Media: Cool It With The Parties
Residents at that not-quite-Red Hook not-quite-Carroll Gardens slice of Brooklyn known as the Columbia Street Waterfront District are not pleased about Vice Media’s recent party at the Red Hook Container Terminal. The Williamsburg-based company threw an invite-only shindig last Friday sponsored by Absolut Vodka that irked neighbors with its loud music and carousing.
“We closed all the windows and we could still hear it,” a resident named Megan O’Shea told DNAInfo. The police received no official noise complaints (nor did 311) but there was much grousing on Twitter. Now, Community Board 6 is hosting a meeting in advance on the next event, a waterfront concert called the Escape Music Festival, which features “the craziest party in Ibiza” only like, here.
Community Board 6 doesn’t have say over the terminal events, which are run by the Port Authority. But if you want to go complain anyway, the meeting will be tomorrow at Red Hook’s Miccio Center at 6:30 pm.
