Brooklyn Grange to Host Sunset Harvest Meal

The best thing about fall, aside from sweaters, pumpkin drinks, and a smaller ConEd bill, is the harvest. Next Wednesday, September 3, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, Brooklyn Grange will host Veggiepalooza, a four-course, family-style dinner atop its rooftop farm in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
If you don’t know about Brooklyn Grange, operators of the two largest and most improbably gorgeous commercial urban rooftop farms in New York City, there could hardly be a better time to learn. On the other hand, you may already be enjoying their produce from their CSA, at local farmer’s markets, or at restaurants like Roberta’s Pizza and the Farm on Adderly. Brooklyn Grange operates a second rooftop farm, in Long Island City, as well as an apiary and a mushroomery(?), at the old Pfizer plant in South Williamsburg.
At $85 a head, Veggiepalooza will feature one course each from Pickle Shack, SCRATCHbread, VSpot, and Northeast Kingdom. VSpot will also supply “garden-to-glass” cocktails for a reception before the meal. Wine will be supplied by Heron Hill Winery, beer by Brooklyn Brewery, and other fun potables by Prairie Organic Spirits.
The only catch? It’s B.Y.O.P.—bring your own plate. Per the event listing: “Harvest is all about sharing with community and your plates will add color and a bit of your personality to our table, so dig deep into those cabinets and grab your favorite dish.” It’s tradition!
