Former Roberta’s Chef Opening Restaurant in Clinton Hill
Good news everyone who doesn’t live along the L train. Soon you’ll be able to get a taste of the magic behind Roberta’s Pizza without having to schlep all the way to Bushwick. Former Roberta’s chef Gabe McMackin is opening up his own restaurant, dubbed The Finch, in Clinton Hill.
The new restaurant will focus on industrially made, pre-packaged ingredients. Kidding! It’s a farm-to-table number, Fort Greene Focus reports, that will soon occupy a space at 212 Greene Avenue. The menus currently up on The Finch website indicate some homey, local, seasonal fare just right for the coming cooler weather: Grilled Cuttlefish with Pistachio Butter, anyone?
McMackin tells DNAInfo that his restaurant will be particularly friendly to off-the-menu requests “within reason,” of the sort that Roberta’s frequently offers. “I want people to come here to have a good time, be comfortable and get served,” he told the site. “The food can be a backdrop to the hospitality.”
Sounds far more appealing than wrangling with the MTA to head to the hinterlands, right kids? Check back on The Finch’s website for details on the opening date.
