Smorgasburg Is Bringing A Night Market To Central Park

Though there’s no shortage of food markets in Manhattan, we Brooklynites do have something over them. Smorgasburg is the be-all-end-all of food markets and everyone knows ot (even if they’re not willing to admit it). But it’s a long-ish trek to this side of the East River, so to honor our brothers and sisters across the way, Smorgasburg is organizing a very special night market in Central Park next month.
The fest will take place on Friday, September 19 from 5 pm to 9 pm and feature 30 heavy hitters including Mighty Quinn’s, Fleisher’s, Butter + Scotch, Blue Marble Ice Cream, Milk Truck and others.
Smorgasburg has actually been making its presence known at Central Park since 2010, providing the vendors and booze at past SummerStages, but this will be the market’s first independent foray. And if it goes well, the market could serve as a preview of things to come a.k.a. a permanent Smorgasburg in Manhattan.
The inaugural pop-up will take place near the corner of 72nd Street and 5th Avenue at Rumsey Playfield.
