5 Questions with Matthew Koshak

5 Questions With is a new series spotlighting some of Brooklyn’s most exciting and influential creatives.

We wouldn’t fault you for not recognizing Matthew Koshak — after all, he’s almost always been the guy backstage with the band or (during showtime) behind the mixing boards. Specifically, the boards of bands like Girls and Smith Westerns, both of which he’s toured with over the last handful of years. (Don’t worry, though, he still spends plenty of time in the studio with his own music.) After the jump, some of his favorite picks from the neighborhood.

Name: Matthew Koshak

Neighborhood: East Williamsburg Industrial Park

What’s the record you’ve probably listened to most in your life? One From the Vault, Grateful Dead Live 75′ Great American Music Hall San Francisco, CA.

Broolyn-based band to watch?  Tie between Lodro and Endless Boogie.

Favorite place to go see a show? Baby’s All Right. Best PA in the Tri-State area, hands down. Trust me on this one. (Glasslands super close second… so intimate)

Favorite Brooklyn bar? Manhattan Inn (Mainly because I cant say Baby’s twice, right?)

Go to drink? Highlife bottle/Jameson shot, although I really love Four Barrel coffee from Marlow and Sons.
