Frankie Cosmos
Keeping on the youth theme, not to mention heart emojis, Greta Kline’s latest album under her alias Frankie Cosmos doesn’t shy from the perils of growing up. She complains about homework and she really misses her dead dog, but you get the sense she dots the “i” in her name with a heart despite the hardships. Zentropy‘s unpolished edges drive home the point that we’re not dealing with someone pretending to know more than they do about, you know, life, which makes Kline’s acute pop sensibility a sneaky killer. The album’s 10 tracks, most hovering around the two-minute mark, are pure twee gold, slaying in their own, very polite way.
