Stop, Drop And Roll To Times Square And Meet The FDNY’s “Calendar of Heroes” Today
Do you have plans to do literally anything but visit Times Square this afternoon? Cancel them. Because today, Times Square is different. Today, Times Square will host super hot firemen (and one woman!).
Between 11am and 1pm, on Broadway at 42nd St, the firefighters featured in the FDNY’s 2015 Calendar of Heroes will be signing copies of the 12-page fiery festival of big trucks, shining abs and, from the looks of it, exceptionally stellar dimples.
The best thing about this year’s calendar, however, is the inclusion of one of the FDNY’s 41 firewomen for the first time ever! Danae Mines, an 11-year veteran from the Bronx, will be Miss March. “I was told that it was all guys,” she told the Daily News. “They said if I made it in the calendar, I would look like a pinup girl.” But after Mines, who had dreamed of being a firefighter since she was ten, saw the call for auditions, she said, “I wasn’t going to let anyone tell me I couldn’t do what I wanted to do. I was determined.”
The calendar will also include a different handy fire safety tip from each month’s firefighter, because that is definitely the point of all this.
