New Bushwick ‘Shack’ Serves Poutine And Other Hangover Cures
The Bushwick food scene has been really blowing up these last few weeks. Between the fancy bagel shop, vegan bakery and the impeding Taste of Bushwick, there’s no denying that the neighborhood is working overtime to put itself on the foodie map. Today, that legacy continues with The Diggs, a new late night food shack serving all the bad-for-you comfort food we could wish for.
Via Bedford + Bowery: The Diggs is a newly-minted collaboration between the folks behind The Bodega/Heavy Woods and local chef Brian Baskoff, who’s previously done stints at St. Anselm and Empire Biscuit.
Operating out of a mobile kitchen, The Diggs serves high(er) brow versions of comfort food favorites, topping long-cut fries with everything from cheese curds (i.e. poutine) to blue cheese-tarragon mayo and smoked tempeh (for the vegans among us).
Prices range from $4.50 for a “Smalls” order of fries, which includes one sauce, to $16 for New England fries topped with Old Bay, lobster and lemon and served with a side of horseradish ketchup. In between, you’ll find the aforementioned poutine, loaded fries and Colorado-style taters covered in Denver green chili.
