Is delicious, artisanal ice cream a proper substitute for authentic breakfast tacos? Well, we don’t know, but we’re about to find out.
Word is that the folks behind Van Leeuwen have temporarily opened an outpost of their ice cream shop in the space formerly occupied by Whirlybird.
According to Bedford+Bowery, the small ice cream chain is operating a pop-up shop in the space at 254 S. 2nd Street (near Havemeyer Street), featuring coffee from Toby’s Estate, six types of vegan ice cream, a sundae menu whose beauty brings tears to our eyes, and, of course, take home pints for those capable of delaying gratification.
Store hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Monday through Thursday), 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (Friday), 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. (Saturday) and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Sunday).
