The 25 Best Houses in Brooklyn: A Highly Subjective List
186 Duffield Street, Downtown Brooklyn
This neighborhood is full of skyscrapers, and then suddenly you wander down Duffield and discover a pair of low-level Greek revival houses. (Our favorite is the one on the right, with the columnated entrance, shutters, and attic windows.) They were actually built around the corner on Johnson Street, then moved here in the 90s when the Metrotech complex was built. We also hear they’re uninhabited except to house boxes and other office detritus, but we’re still stunned by their sheer rebuke of context.
