A BMW Driver Killed a Cyclist In Bushwick This Morning, Fled The Scene
These stories are still depressingly common, but also, a needed reminder of how far we have to go before Vision Zero comes anywhere close to being a reality: Gothamist reports that a 46-year-old cyclist was killed earlier this morning in Bushwick, after being hit by a BMW at the intersection of Broadway and Halsey.
It gets worse: “The driver then crashed into a parked car, and proceeded to barrel down a one way street near Broadway and Thomas S. Boyland Street, crashing into an SUV.”
The driver of the BMW is still at large after abandoning the car at Chauncey and Thomas S. Boyland Street, and the cyclist was pronounced DOA at Woodhull Hospital.
