Pies ‘n’ Thighs Might Get a Manhattan Branch [Updated]
As Sweet Chick works to lock down their new branch in the old Max Fish space (we hear they managed to snag that elusive liquor license), Bedford + Bowery reports that another Williamsburg fried chicken joint might be coming to the Lower East Side: Pies ‘n’ Thighs.
There hasn’t been any formal announcement, but the site noticed that Pies ‘n’ Thighs appears on the schedule for a planned meeting of Community Board 3’s liquor license committee, having applied for a beer and wine license at 43 Canal St. near Ludlow. As long as they hang onto their Williamsburg home base (and there’s no reason to think that they aren’t), sounds good to us. The more of those chicken biscuits that are in the world, the better.
Update: Pies ‘n’ Thighs owner Sarah Sanneh confirms their plans to open up a spot on the Lower East Side, and says that with the smaller space, “It’s going to have more of a lunch counter vibe with additional seating in the back.”
