South Greenpoint Is Getting A New Meat & Cheese Shop

Those dismayed by the fact that they live so far from Eastern District can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Fancy meats and cheese are coming to South Greenpoint.
The news comes via Greenpointers: On May 1, a new shop called Greenpoint Meat + Cheese will open at 192 Driggs Avenue near Diamond Street and presumably bring locals much joy.
The new venture will be run by owners and friends of four years, Jessica Mark and Ursula O’Hara, who plan on sourcing all their wares (except for their Parmigiano-Reggiano, but you can’t fault them on that one) from local purveyors. Artisanal breads will come from Bakeri, jam via Anarchy In A Jar and the most virgin of olive oils will come courtesy of Frankie’s Olive Oil. Meanwhile, the real stars of the show, the cheeses and the meats, will come from Greenpoint’s Food Matters Again. Patrons will be more than welcome to pick up prepared platters, individual items and there will even be mini cheese boards for one.
Since opening a small business ain’t what it used to be, the ladies behind Greenpoint Meat + Cheese are running a fundraising campaign on Smallknot and have already raised 57 percent of the $10,000 they need to buy a high quality meat slicer and refrigerator. But there’s only seven days left in the campaign and just like Kickstarter, it’s an all-or-nothing kind of deal. Fundraiser rewards include aprons, totes, cheese boards, invites to their grand opening and, most importantly, a thank you note.
