Surprise (Not): Bible Belt States Watch The Most Gay Porn

Oh, sweet hypocrisy.
Say what you will about porn, but how, why and what we watch tells us so much about the culture we live in and recently Pornhub, like OkCupid before them, has taken to rolling out some stats about their users’ habits.
Last week, the popular porn site released a very interesting map detailing state-by-state consumption of gay pornography and lo and behold, those living in the Bible Belt absolutely love to watch two dudes going at it.
First, yes, states where gay marriage is legal watch more gay porn overall than states where it’s illegal, but at just seven percent, the difference is marginal at best.
When you break it down state-by-state, the South (where laws explicitly prohibit gay marriage or “activities”) consumes much more gay porn than other regions, beating out states in the Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northeast.
Among states where gay marriage is illegal, Mississippi came in “first place” nationwide with 5.6% of the state’s Pornhub users viewing gay porn. The Magnolia State was closely followed by Georgia and Louisiana (5.4%), Florida (5.2%) and Alabama (5%).
The state with the least amount of interest in gay porn was Montana, where 2.6% of Pornhub users watched gay porn. They were followed by their neighbors Idaho and North Dakota who both came in with 2.8%.
On a final note, New York nearly claimed the not-so-concise title for “State With Legalized Gay Marriage Who Loves Watching Gay Porn The Most,” but we lost that esteemed honor to Hawaii. Damnit!
