The Most Effortlessly Romantic Bars and Restaurants in Brooklyn
La Vara:
This intimate Clinton Street spot is one of our favorite places in all of Brooklyn, but is particularly well-suited for a date night, particularly if you and your partner can snag one of the table for two toward the back of the restaurant. All the food is meant for sharing, and what’s a greater sign of love than showing generosity when it comes to who gets the last bite of house-made olive oil ice cream? Other must-have dishes include the salty, nutty, lusciously oily anchovies with sesame and hazelnut; crispy eggplant with honey and melted cheese (trust us); and fidueá, a noodle-based paella, featuring perfectly plump and tender shrimp, mussels, and squid. And since it’s Valentine’s Day, celebrate the holiday with a skewer of tender grilled chicken hearts—the chewy morsels are wonderfully toothsome and not to be missed, especially this time of year.
