Welcome to de Blasio’s New York: Everything You Need to Know About Last Night’s Elections
Scott Stringer Is Your New Comptroller (we will now return to never talking about comptrollers again)
Just when I finally learned to say the word “comptroller” correctly, it turns out that I will probably never need to say it again. Former Manhattan borough president, Scott Stringer coasted to an easy win last night. So easy that we struggled to remember that it was ever much of a contest to begin with? After all, who else even wanted this low-profile job other than Stringer? Oh, right. Ex-governor Eliot Spitzer. God, September seems like a really long time ago, doesn’t it? Anyway, Stringer won, and we can all go back to forgetting about comptrolling, and probably Stringer until, say, 2021, when he’ll almost definitely be throwing his hat into the ring.
