10 Brooklyn Neighborhood Restaurants and Bars Where You Ought to Become a Regular
Brucie might be the fanciest place on this list, or at least, it’s the most ambitious in terms of cuisine, and possibly it’s the priciest. However, it’s still, at heart, a neighborhood spot…and the service is so gracious that waiters do things like bring you complimentary prosecco if you have to wait just two minutes for another couple to get up from the table you want. It doesn’t hurt that Brucie serves up some of the best comfort food in Brooklyn (the short-rib meatballs? perfection!) along with great cocktails and wines with none of the pretentious attitude that you might expect from a restaurant with such high quality food. Plus, it’s totally fine to linger here (within reason, don’t be rude to the waitstaff, obviously, they need to get home too) and to feel like you’re in an extension of your living room. Except, let’s face it, your living room bar cart probably doesn’t have the ingredients to make knockout drinks like the Morse Code or Bird in Hand. Best to go to Brucie for that.
