Five Fall Weekend Trips To Get You Out of Brooklyn
Bear Mountain
National parks may be closed indefinitely (visits to Floyd Bennett Field will have to be put on hold) but, for the time being, our state parks are doing just fine. So, no time like the present to take a trip up about an hour up the Hudson to Bear Mountain, which boasts fishing, boating, biking, an on-site zoo, a hand-painted merry go-round, a bird conservancy, and hiking trails with truly staggering views of one of the most beautiful places in the entire world. If you think that last part is in any way hyperbolic, clearly you haven’t been up there yet. Should find yourself wanting to stay for more than one day, they’ve also got an inn up there, and even a spa. Really, there’s no reason anyone ever needs to leave.
