JMZ Bushwick (Not “Stuyshwick”) Is Getting Some Kind Of Hotel

More proof (besides the proliferation of new sub-neighborhood names) that the area around Broadway between Bushwick and Bed-Stuy is starting to change: Brownstoner reports that that a vacant former auto shop at 1090 Myrtle Ave. is slated to be turned into a hotel.
Not quite on par with the luxury hotel boom happening over in Williamsburg, but a notable change nonetheless, as is the recent uptick I’ve noticed of enthusiastic young people with giant, trip-around-the-world backpacks getting off the train in the area lately. Possibly the two are connected.
Anyway, details are still slim, and Brownstoner writes, “the permits do not reveal much in terms of architect or hotel brand.” For now, we’ll just have to wait and see, and keep our fingers crossed for a branch of Yotel, however unlikely. If we’re getting a fancy hotel, may as well be one that comes with a giant robot claw.
