Where to Go on Brooklyn’s New Restaurant Row
Brooklyn Beet Co.
This was a big deal when it opened a few months ago: a fancy farm-to-table joint… in Bay Ridge?! There was skepticism in my Facebook feed (“what the fuck is a ‘South Slope-cured sausage’?”) and recently I’ve heard some blowback to the hype. But I like this place, which is from the owners of Korzo: I don’t mind sitting at communal tables; the short cocktail list is inventive; and the Beet Burger is just wow. The taretare-red patty is stuffed inside a fried pocket of dough, like a pita made from zeppole, and joined by greens and sauce. I couldn’t eat it every day… but I could eat it every birthday.
