Really, the G never stood a chance. Even the users who defend the line (“I am only giving it a good review because G train, Clinton-Washington stop, saved me form a horrible night from the hell on earth called Club Touche,” one user posted on 4/20) won’t give it more than three stars (the overall rating clocks in at 2.5).
Everyone else uses it as a place to test out their very harshest hyperbole. Sheena B. says, “This is the only subway that almost ever killed me. It’s a long story, but it involved a man with a shaved head & a giant scar running down the entire length of his skull […] There also seems to be a high frequency of stinky people that ride the G.” Or, more simply, there’s this review from a “Monica T:” “I feel very sorry for anyone who has to rely on it as their primary subway. God help you all.” Oof. Point taken.
